White Gold Cornwall is a local charity which supports children and young people up to the age of 30years across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We provide 1:1 mentoring to help them navigate life’s many challenges.  We have a committed team of experienced, dedicated and devoted engagement workers who bring a wealth and depth of experience to the organisation.

'Breaking the Cycle..'

Set up as a Community Interest Company in April 2011, our work with young people has developed under the White Gold Project in 2004 and partnership working with our CEO, Alan Milliner and the Youth Offending Service.

We now continue to work with those needing support, encouraging them to overcome barriers and reach their potential. Even though we have grown and diversified our strapline remains!

Our aim is to help young people to make positive changes in order to live more fulfilling and happy lives.

How we work

When young people are referred to us, looking specifically at their individual needs, circumstances, interests and personality we will initially identify an appropriate member of our team to support. This is part of an on-going assessment process which prioritises risk. We recognise the relationship between the worker and the individual as paramount.

Identifying Objectives

It is essential that aims and objectives are identified from the outset to enable our Engagement Workers to have a focus towards achieving positive outcomes.

Trusted Partners

A significant contribution to the success of this work is the effective partnerships that White Gold has already developed within the community.

Effective Engagement

Our Engagement Workers regularly review their work with young people and provide regular written reports to referees to show the journey of the young person. Engagement workers also offer valuable contributions including presenting the views of the young person at multi-agency meetings. The White Gold Management Team can also be readily contacted should there be a need.

The real impact of our work

We receive hundreds of referrals each year and look to help not only the young people and children across Cornwall, but also offer support and guidance to parents, guardians and organisations working with young people and children.

Below are a small selection of case studies on recent referrals, and also testimonials from those we have helped and supported.

Our Services

We are always looking for volunteers to help with the support that we offer in the community.

Do you have:

  • Spare time
  • Willing to help someone else
  • Care for the community in which you live
  • Want to see a change in young people’s behaviour

Then we are looking for you!

When financial support comes to an end the 1:1 work may need to continue.  This is where a volunteer can continue the work which has been started.

We offer the same training opportunities for volunteers as we do for our engagement workers and will follow our safer recruitment policy.
