Jasmin Appleby

My name is Jasmin and I grew up in Cornwall in the Camborne & Redruth area. I love working with people 1-2-1 to provide support, guidance, and a positive outlook.

I’ve learnt that in times of difficulty, having someone who will listen, without judgement, can make all the difference and this is what I like to provide for the young people at White Gold. I have worked as a mentor since 2021 and supported people who have a wide range of challenges – including addiction, poor mental health, victims of crime, and ex-offenders – to help them move forward with their lives.

I’ve had different voluntary roles with children including as a Forest School assistant and running nature-based events where I helped children enjoy the freedom of being outdoors. I am a voluntary Director of Sunrise, an organisation which provides safe and supportive events for people who’ve been affected by suicide loss.

I enjoy the variety of activities I can offer the young people I support at White Gold – whatever they are interested in I will try to find a way to do it! From sports to coastal walks, visiting the zoo, taking a drive, or just enjoying a hot chocolate, it all helps to find a way to chat through problems and work out how to make things better.
