I am thrilled to be part of White Gold,  and hope that I can add my experience to the already strong range within the team. Having supported and mentored loved ones through addiction, trauma, and battles with mental health, I have first hand personal and professional experience of being there for people when life can become too overwhelming to navigate alone.

I’ve followed a diverse career in education, counselling and art, that has spanned over 30 years, and have spent the last couple focusing solely on my art. Throughout my career, art has played a role in helping others unpick their emotions and express themselves in a way that is not limited to just words. It has often become a haven for some, and a source of happiness and self-confidence for others.

I have run art departments in a residential special needs school in Surrey, and also in Botswana; two very different, but equally wonderful, experiences. I have also held teaching and support roles in schools and pupil referral units. I think that it is invaluable to be able to spend time building on a young person’s well-being in surroundings that are informal, peaceful and inspiring, with activities that they will enjoy. I have loved mentoring and supporting young people both in groups and on a 1:1 basis, in a way that is person-centered and which follows their lead; finding a place where they feel safe and able to value themselves.

I have lived in Cornwall for just shy of ten years now, having spent a large portion of my life in Africa. I live in a quiet, friendly village, with my rescue animals and have a daughter at University in London. I love nature, animals and wildlife and have been a passionate advocate of conservation since I was very young. I am at my happiest pottering around with my cats, painting, gardening, walking out in the woods, moors, or by the sea with my dog, Noodle, playing chess, or going to the beach (I love a good beach clean too!). I also love yoga, music, theatre and film. I’m really looking forward to helping young people in Cornwall find confidence in themselves and happiness in their life.
