Kerry Milton

Hello, my name is Kerry, I started my journey of supporting people when I first came to live in the Southwest and began volunteering with the National Trust. I ran the schools programme for primary children to engage them in conservation and nature when I wasn’t digging ditches, planting trees, or cutting them down with a chainsaw. From there I went on to run the volunteer programme for adults with BTCV, and then onto supporting young people with Silvanus Trust. My journey of supporting people continued with Gwellheans and Freshfield Services working with adults with drug and alcohol problems.

It was my work in these roles that inspired me to study psychodynamic counselling, which in turn led me to volunteer with Ahimsa, working with male perpetrators of domestic violence using mindfulness-based therapy, which I found to be such a powerful way of working and an amazing skillset to learn.

I believe we all have the capacity to change our lives around in a way that’s right for the individual and feel fortunate and privileged to work with a diverse range of people from different walks of life and delight in seeing those positive changes in them.

I love my job!
